How to Properly Clean a Stainless Steel Thermos to Extend Its Service Life
I. Pre-Cleaning Preparations
Before cleaning, choose soft sponges, cloths, or specialized bottle brushes as tools. Avoid using steel wool to prevent scratching and damaging the protective layer, which can lead to bacterial growth and rust. Use neutral dishwashing detergent as a mild cleaning agent; avoid strongly acidic or alkaline ones to prevent corrosion.
II. Daily Cleaning Steps
(A) Inner Container Cleaning
Rinsing: After each use, promptly rinse the inner container with warm water to remove residues, especially from coffee or tea, to prevent stains and odors.
Using a Cleaning Agent: Add neutral detergent and warm water, then gently scrub all corners, especially the bottom and near the mouth, with a bottle brush.
Thorough Rinsing: Rinse repeatedly until no foam remains to ensure no detergent residue, which can affect beverage taste and health.
(B) Bottle Cap and Sealing Ring Cleaning
Disassembly: Remove the cap and sealing ring following instructions to avoid damage due to complex designs.
Cleaning: Dip a sponge/cloth in detergent solution and gently wipe surfaces. Use toothpicks for dirt on the sealing ring without scratching it.
Rinsing and Drying: Rinse thoroughly and dry in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent aging and deformation.
III. Regular Deep Cleaning
Perform deep cleaning occasionally (e.g., monthly). Use baking soda: pour it in, add warm water, soak, and scrub to remove stains and odors. Or mix white vinegar with water, soak, and scrub to dissolve scale.
IV. Post-Cleaning Maintenance
Ensure all components are dry before reassembling. Store in a dry, ventilated place when not in use for long to prevent rust and mildew. Avoid collisions with sharp objects to prevent deformation and maintain insulation.
Proper cleaning ensures beverage hygiene and extends the thermos's lifespan, keeping it well-insulated and appealing.
