Definition of Food Jar

A food jar is an insulated container designed to keep food hot or cold during transport, similar to a thermos but for solid foods. It is often made of stainless steel with vacuum insulation, featuring a leakproof lid and a wide opening for easy filling and cleaning. Food jars are commonly used to carry meals like soup, pasta, or salads for work, school, or outdoor activities such as camping.
Types of Food Jar
Food jars can be categorized by their material (e.g., glass, stainless steel, plastic), shape (e.g., round, rectangular, hexagonal), and purpose (e.g., canning, dry storage, insulated lunch jars). Common types include classic glass jars like mason jars for canning, insulated stainless steel jars for hot food, and a variety of plastic or glass containers for pantry and refrigerator storage.
By material:
Glass
Versatile, non-reactive, and often used for canning, dry goods, and everyday storage.
01
Stainless steel
Durable and often used for insulated jars to keep food hot or cold.
02
Plastic
Available in both hard (for pantry staples) and flexible options, often lightweight and less expensive.
03
Bamboo
Can be combined with glass to create jars with an eco-friendly, airtight lid.
04
Ceramic
Used for aesthetic storage, often with a decorative design.
05
How to maintain Food Jar

For everyday use
When using food jars in daily life, cleaning and maintenance are crucial. After each use, clean them immediately with warm water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. If food has dried on, soak it first and then wash. Also, use a bottle brush to thoroughly clean all the inner surfaces. After that, rinse them thoroughly with warm water and dry them completely. When storing, remove the lids to ensure they stay dry and fresh. Additionally, insulated jars with metal linings should not be heated in a microwave.
For insulated jars
To achieve better insulation effects when using an insulated jar, before adding food, you can fill it with boiling water and let it sit for 10 minutes for preheating, or put it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes for pre-chilling. Wet foods like soups or sauces retain heat better than dry foods when placed in the jar. Moreover, make sure the food is piping hot, ideally reaching the boiling point, before putting it into the jar.
